CANADIAN POLISH MILLENNIUM FUND

GRANT INFORMATION

 

Each calendar year the Canadian Polish Millennium Fund awards grants in May and October. Grant applications may be found on the Millennium Funds website at www.millenniumfund.ca. To be eligible for consideration, every application must be fully completed, signed and submitted according to the following criteria:

 

In May:

Applications made on behalf of Canadian-Polish institutions / organizations / groups or individuals such as educational institutions, cultural institutions, social and youth organizations and authors of published books which deal with Polish and/or Polonia matters: the deadline for submission is April 15. All applications and supporting documents must be received no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

In October:

Applications for student grants: applicants must be students of Polish descent who have completed their first year of studies and are currently enrolled in a program of study at a Canadian post-secondary educational institution. The deadline for submission is September 15. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

 

In addition, the Millennium Fund administers seven distinct student awards:

 

  1. The Dr. S. J. Biskupski grant is awarded to a Canadian resident of Polish descent who undertakes studies of the Polish language in Poland. The deadline for submission is September 15th. All applications and submission is September 15th. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline date will not be accepted.

  1. The "POMNIK PAMIĘCI" grant is funded by Bronisława Stanisławska in memory of her sons Wojtek and Witek Stanisławski who were murdered in the German concentration camp at Auschwitz. The award is primarily directed towards students of Polish history at the University of Toronto. The deadline for submission is September 15th. All applications and supporting documents September 15th. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

  1. The Col. Bolesław Orliński grant is awarded to a student of Polish descent (enrolled in a professional pilot training program in accordance with the wishes of the estate of Polish aviator and test pilot Colonel Bolesław Orlinski. As stipulated, students of Polish descent may apply by submitting the completed questionnaire found on our website together with the specified required documentation to the Canadian Polish Millennium Fund. The deadline for submissions is April 15th each year. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.   1. In 2007, Zbigniew Czapliński, P.Eng., funded an award for students who enroll in a program of study at a post-secondary institution. Applicants must be descendants of members of the Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa) who fought during the Second World War. The deadline for submission is September 15th. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date. Please do not send applications by email, as they will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. More information on this award is available on our website

  1. Mieczysław and Joanna Stitski Student Grant. In 2013 the Canadian Polish Millennium Fund acquired management of a new student grant funded by M. Stitski, bestowed annually to a student enrolled in second year or higher studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada. The applicant must be a member in good standing of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada and actively engaged in the Polish community. Recipients are selected by the District Commissioners of PSA Canada and submitted by the National Commissioners of PSA Canada by the deadline of September 15th. Application forms are available from the District Commissioners (Hufcowa or Hufcowy), and must be submitted directly to the District Commissioners for consideration.

  1. The Barbara Głogowska Student Grant of $500.00, funded by the estate of Barbara Głogowska, is to be bestowed annually to a female student enrolled in second year or higher studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada. The applicant must be a member in good standing of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada (PSA) Polish Girl Scouts organization, and actively engaged in the Polish community. Recipients are to be selected by the District Commissioner of PSA in Canada and submitted by the National Commissioner of PSA in Canada by the deadline of September 15th.   1. Oscar Wojtal Leadership Award. In 2025 the Canadian Polish Millennium Fund acquired management of a new student grant funded by the family in memory of Druh Oscar Wojtal, pwd., bestowed annually to a student enrolled in second year or higher studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada who demonstrates leadership skills and potential. The applicant must be a member in good standing of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada and actively engaged in the Polish community. This grant, established in Druh Oscar's memory, shall serve as an inspiration to future young leaders of Polish scouting. Candidates are selected by the District Commissioners of PSA Canada and submitted by the Chief Commissioners of Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts organization by the deadline of September 15th. One candidate will be selected from each organization in alternate years.

  1. The Hm. Halina Sandig and Wędr. Irena Sandig Award is to be bestowed annually to a female student enrolled in second year or higher at a post-secondary institution in Canada. The applicant must be a member in good standing of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada (PSA) Polish Girl Scouts Organization who demonstrates strong leadership and mentorship skills and is actively engaged in the Polish community. Candidates are selected by the District Commissioners of PSA Canada (Hufcowe) and submitted by the Chief Commissioner of the Polish Girl Scouts Organization by the deadline of September 15th. Application forms are available from the District Commissioner (Hufcowa), and must be submitted directly to the District Commissioner for consideration.
